Trek Lagoa Amélia (Volcano Crater)

We will drive from the city to Bom Sucesso, near the center of the island, in a 4x4. After a cup of coffee and a short visit to the Botanical Gardens of ECOFAC, we will begin the hike through  the zone of Esperança.

After about 30 minutes of trekking, we will reach the entrance of the National Park Obô, where the primary forest officially begins.

We will face a steep 1-hour climb before reaching the top of the volcanic hill that leads to Lake Amélia.

The volcano extinct 20 million years ago is filled with rainwater and covered by floating vegetation.

Entering the lake is discouraged due to the risk of disturbing its microclimate, which is home to several endemic species.

After visiting this mysterious lake, we will descend back to Bom Sucesso, where our 4x4 will be waiting.
